Pickled Ham
By: Rex Muston
My name is Mr. Muston, and I am the Faculty Advisor for Chief Insights. For the Winter Food Taste Test Extravaganza, I brought Amana pickled ham for my Insight colleagues to try...I've been doing this too long, the teaching thing...I mean, I open up my heart, my soul, if you will, and leave myself vulnerable in sharing the slice of heaven I call pickled ham.
The responses were as if the writing staff took a dermatone to my skin, flaying me in my most exposed culinary moment.
"Nasty."
"10/10, wouldn't recommend!"
"I can't relate to this product, I am not a fan."
The pickled ham is not that bad, but tasted weird."
You wanna know what's strange about it all? In an epiphany of clarity and irony, I realized the beauty of their harsh criticisms. They may not share my love for this pickled meat. They may not indulge in its consumption as a display of holiday togetherness, and that's okay. This is the time of year when we embrace that special realization. There...will...be...more...for me.
Chocolate Cherry Brownies
By Gina Boddicker
My name is Regina Boddicker and I am an assistant with Chief Insights. For the Winter
Food Taste Test Extravaganza I brought chocolate cherry brownies for people to try. My brownies were well received by our discerning staff, as I knew they would be. One member of our staff noted that the brownies were "fudge like" and added that they "smacked". I was pleased by another staff member's complement; "smacks, 100% recommend". Finally someone noted that my brownies were a "delectable chocolate cherry delight". These brownies make a great holiday treat and a welcome addition to any holiday cookie tray.

By: Angel McGlasson
My name is Angel McGlasson and I am the Managing Editor for Chief Insights. For the Winter Food Taste Test Extravaganza, I brought peppermint bark for me colleagues to try. I think that it would be a winter holiday food because it has always been done in my family for winter. My colleagues seemed to like the peppermint bark based on what they commented on my paper.
"The bark was soft and it smacked!"
"Absolutely amazing!"
"Expected a hard texture, but was very smooth with a refreshing taste of mint."
I personally think that this should be a winter holiday food because people tend to enjoy minty things when its cold. I would recommend making peppermint bark for family gatherings or Christmas parties.
Deer Chili
By: Isaac Cook
My name is Isaac Cook, and I am a Staff Writer for Chief Insights. For the Winter Food Taste Test Extravaganza, I brought deer chili for my Insight colleagues to try. The reason I chose the chili was because it is a good complement to all the sweet foods. Chili is a winter food because it can help people keep the
Peppermint Cream Pie
By: Annie Mcneill
My name is Anastasia Mcneill and I am a staff writer on Chief Insights. For the Winter Food Taste Test Extravaganza, I brought peppermint cream pie for my colleagues to try. I think it would be a winter holiday food because foods that have peppermint in them seem to be popular when it's cold. My colleagues seemed to like the peppermint cream pie a lot and I know this because of what they commented on my paper.
"It was very pretty, it had a light peppermint taste, it was very creamy and looked fluffy."
"Amazing appearance and has a Smooth texture with a hint of peppermint."
"It was cute and tasted like peppermint."
I personally wouldn't really eat it because I only like certain things with peppermint in them. But I would recommend to have the peppermint cream pie at family gatherings.
Chocolate Pretzels
By: Alizah Elliott
My name is Alizah Elliott and I am a staff Writer on Chief Insights. For the Winter Food taste Test Extravaganza, I brought chocolate covered pretzels for my colleagues to try. I chose chocolate covered pretzels because it's the top Christmas snack my grandma and I always make. Chocolate pretzels are a Christmas snack to me because it's not something that people eat all the time, except for on holidays. Choosing chocolate covered pretzels was a good idea because I thought the pretzels were pretty good and my colleague Regina said, the pretzels Salty, sweet and chocolaty! I didn't think they were bad either , although I could have chosen a more jolly food. Here are a few other reactions to the pretzels. Of the rest of the staff who were lucky enough to try my treat, several remarked on how much they enjoyed the combination of sweet and salty. Others really liked the crunchy texture of the pretzels. One staff member said they tasted great even though he is not normally a pretzel fan. I was really pleased with how much my fellow staff members liked my holiday treat.

Pumpkin Pie Poptarts
By: Jordan Sisk
My name is Jordan Sisk and I am a Copy Editor for Chief Insights. For the Winter Food Test Extravaganza, I bought Pumpkin Pie Poptarts for my Insight colleagues to try. Now thinking back on it, it wasn't the best food choice considering the fact that many people don't like pumpkin pie without whipped cream. The results stayed true to this statement too, as many people didn't like the Pop Tarts simply saying they were terrible all around. Personally I didn't find the Pop Tarts to be that bad, other than the fact that I couldn't eat more than one serving. I found the taste to be similar to that of an actual pumpkin pie. Although the flavor of the Pop Tart is up for debate, the design on the icing of the pop tart was agreed upon, that it gave a real "fall look." Overall, with mixed opinions of these Pop Tarts I guess you will just have to go out and try them for yourself. You will have to hurry up if you want to try them though because they are a limited edition flavor and will be pulled off the shelves soon.
